In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to make your own resin dominoes step by step—even if you’ve never worked with resin before!

Whether you’re here for a quick DIY or you’re ready to go all-in with my full online course, you’ll leave this blog post knowing exactly what you need to get started.

🧩 What Are Resin Dominoes?

Resin dominoes are handmade domino game pieces created using epoxy resin and a silicone mold. The process involves:

  • Mixing and pouring resin
  • Adding color, glitter, or embellishments
  • Painting the pips (dots and lines)
  • Finishing and polishing the set

The result? A beautiful, personalized domino set that’s both artistic and fully playable.

🎨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prep Your Workspace

Work in a well-ventilated space, cover your surface, and gather all your supplies. Put on gloves and make sure your mold is clean and dry.

Step 2: Mix the Resin

Follow your resin brand’s instructions. Most require a 1:1 ratio by volume. Mix slowly for 3–5 minutes to avoid bubbles.

Step 3: Add Color or Embellishments

Once your resin is mixed, add pigment, glitter, foil flakes, or dried flowers. You can also leave it clear!

Step 4: Pour the First Layer

Pour about halfway into each cavity. Let this layer cure (usually 12–24 hours) before proceeding.

Step 5: Pour the Second Layer

Top off each cavity with more resin. This seals in any embellishments and gives your dominoes their full shape.

Step 6: Demold and Finish

Once fully cured, remove each domino from the mold. Sand rough edges if needed and polish the surface for extra shine.

Step 7: Paint the Pips

Use a fine paint pen or acrylic paint to fill in the dots and dividing lines. Let dry completely before sealing (optional).

🧰 Bonus: Make a Matching Storage Box

Want to complete your set? You can make a resin storage box using this silicone box mold. It fits a full set of dominoes and makes your creation even more giftable!
