Inside the Studio: Artist Spotlight September 2025 Updates✨

Inside the Studio: September 2025
As summer winds down and we ease into fall, creativity is still in full swing in our community. 🍂✨ Each month, our Artist Spotlight “Inside the Studio” brings together updates, stories, and works-in-progress straight from the artists who make this space so inspiring.
Think of it as a relaxed gathering — like pulling up a chair in a friend’s studio — where you can catch glimpses of:
- New projects taking shape
- Behind-the-scenes moments (both messy and magical!)
- Event highlights worth celebrating
- Tips, tricks, and reflections from daily studio life
It’s a chance to stay connected, cheer each other on, and share the little sparks that keep our creative fires burning. So grab your favorite drink (coffee, tea, or that ever-present paint water 😅) and enjoy this month’s studio updates.

We’ve been busy traveling, visiting friends and family, but now I’m back in the studio preparing for an upcoming show. But I’ve also have had some fun exploring some new techniques and applying it to new functional art pieces. I’m excited to see how far I can take these techniques. There was also a lovely article published about my art in our neighborhood newsletter, so that was exciting!

I am having good luck upscaling used wooden cigar boxes. I first bought a lot of 10 various used cigar boxes off Amazon for $28. Two of those boxes I couldn’t use, for whatever reason. I remove all stickers from the top, and ensure the inside is clean. I then tape them up to the line I want the paint to go to, remove any sticker residue, wipe them off with alcohol, sand them and then paint.
The last one I did I had a little drying mishap. A bag above in the drying rack dragged in to the wet paint causing a small area to be streaked. I camouflaged i the problem area with a perfect dragonfly sticker that almost seems like it was made to go right there. I am loving these happy mistakes I keep making
Fun Fact or Artist Tip: Not all mistakes are problems. Sometimes it just takes a creative eye to see the vision.

This month I took a much needed break and went on a 25th anniversary trip with my hubby to the Açores. We had an amazing time and I took a ton of gorgeous pictures that I will use as color inspirations for some of my next creations. I did manage to get 3 artisan fairs in and create some beautiful fall inspired textured art and coasters.

Fun Fact or Artist Tip: It is ok to take a break from creating and social media posting.
For me, it allows a reset that refuels my creative juices. When the inspiration dries up, I tend to lose my joy in the process.

This beautiful little bowl took nearly ten hours to complete. Stacy.Does.Glass. custom designed “Diamond Glaze” was then applied after the pour. The shimmer is amazing !
Fun Fact or Artist Tip: S.D.G. “Diamond Glaze” was custom formulated by me for maximum shimmer ! The application is extremely tedious & very time consuming but well worth it when it’s all done !

On September 2nd I set up my solo show in the entrance gallery room of Off Track Art, a gallery and art gift shop in the neighboring town of Westminster, Maryland. I was juried into this shop this past July, and a mere two months later I was asked to be their featured artist for September. The show has been a great success, and I’m thrilled to once again be in the community spotlight.
Fun Fact or Artist Tip: Getting your work recognized is a lot of work. It sometimes means getting outside of your comfort zone and asking people or businesses to help you out. The best thing I’ve ever done was joining my local arts council where this time last year I participated in a member’s only show with one piece of artwork. That one painting was seen by another local artist looking for a partner for a show at the arts council for abstract art.
This past May we set up a two artist show that ran for six weeks. That show then led me to off track art, which has led me to another show that I’m doing this fall. Needless to say hard work pays off, step outside your comfort zone!

I can hardly believe that September is almost over! I have another new course that will be posted the first week of October and my new course for September has had great response, Resin Art Secrets. I am so grateful that all of my online courses have been helpful and have helped others learn and grow.
On Sunday, September 28th, I will be at the Michaels Arts and Crafts Open House showing my art and hanging out with my sister who will also be there with her AMAZING handmade soaps. I love these events, they are so much fun!
October will be super busy. I have several projects on my list to complete for my YouTube channel, grandkids to spoil, family to care for, music events with my husband to attend. I am so grateful for all of it!
Fun Fact or Artist Tip: Know your limits! Only take on what you can handle with your real life obligations.
