Wood Heart Blooms – HOW TO create this easy DIY project
Hi! 👋🏼 For Valentine’s Day, I wanted to create a little something special with a BLOOM Paint Pour technique. I love the ColourArte pigments I received as a Christmas gift, and I wanted to use them with this project. The colors look so vibrant and bold! I love how these wood hearts turned out. Painting on these wood heart shapes was fun and easy to do. I did not prep the wood heart shapes, and I can see the grain through the dried paint, which I like. I sealed the dried pieces with Crystal Clear Enamel spray paint and then embellished them with flowers and ribbon. I LOVE how these wood hearts turned out! What do you think?
How to make amazing Wood Heart Blooms
Hi! 👋🏼 The Acrylic Paint Pouring Challenge group on Facebook (http://bit.ly/APPChallenge) is hosting a challenge to create a pour using BLUES WITH VIOLET AND GOLD. So, I experimented with the Shelee Blooms technique using Liquitex paint and a Gold Metallic paint as the Cell Activator on wood heart shapes.
I am not using house paint or the recommended paint for the Cell Activator, and I wanted to see if I could get the same or similar effects on these wood heart shapes using paint consistency as my guide.
Here is my five wood heart compilation video. While these are not the Blooms I was looking for, I do ❤LOVE❤ them all!
This project is inspired by the SheLee Bloom Pour technique. I am excited to share with you a little bit of information on how you can take the same class I took: https://sheleeart.com.au/ AND if you use this code at checkout: 👉❤➜ sheleeart15DHA you will receive a 15% discount for the Shelee tutorial and official bloom recipe!
LOVE is in the air! Give your Valentine a GIFT of LOVE they can enjoy every day of the year!

Hi👋🏼 Well, the paint on my orange large wood ornament cracked and crazed when it dried. I had a feeling it would do this. When I checked on it while it was drying, I saw that I had left a lot of paint in the center of the ornament.
What is cracking and crazing? I have created a blog post that explains everything: CLICK HERE!
I did not like the dried design of this ornament. I am usually OK with the cracking and crazing, but I think it looks wrong in this piece, and I really do not like all of the orange color. I decided to pour over this piece and try again… I am glad I did! This super fun project makes for an AMAZING Christmas decoration for my home. Let me know what you think!

FREE ONLINE TOOL: Acrylic Pouring Paint Calculator

Knowing how much paint to use can be a frustration for some artists. While mixing more paint than needed for your project is best, mixing too much paint can be time-consuming and sometimes wasteful. When I first started learning about paint mixing, I watched so many videos that said, “use about this much” or “just eyeball it.” These learning techniques may work for some, but I had difficulty feeling confident to start learning until I watched more to learn what “just eyeball it” really meant.
I have created two calculators for you to use to help determine how much paint is needed for your project. These calculators are a FREE resource to assist you with your project. And, they are simple to use! You will enter the height and width of your square or rectangle surface (or diameter if using a circle surface) and the depth of the side of your surface. The calculators will give you the approximate ounces of paint you need to complete your project!
I hope you are excited about these updates as I am. I will check in with you next week and share more fluid art fun with you!
Thank you for supporting my art, and thank you for painting with me!
Much love ❤️,
Erika
