Color Me Joyful: A Celebration of Spring Energy in Fluid Art
It’s been exciting to learn about the amazing artists in our community through The Artist Spotlight Program, and we’re thrilled to bring you more inspiration by celebrating individuals in the Paint Pour Academy (PPA) community. This is our monthly Artist Spotlight Collaboration, where we challenge the artists with an Inspired theme and let them pour! Our goal is to inspire you and your art through these themed challenges and share the wealth of knowledge, skill, and artist stylings of our spotlight artists.
We’re keeping it simple and allowing the participating artists full creative control with a theme-featured challenge. Here’s what we asked them to do:
Let’s welcome the colorful energy of May with “Color Me Joyful”—a fluid art collaboration all about vibrant hues, playful movement, and art that radiates pure happiness! This month, we’re inviting you to tap into what brings you joy and express it through color. Whether it’s bright florals, childhood memories, sunny days, or bursts of laughter, let your art reflect the energy that lights you up inside.
This is your chance to play, experiment, and pour with pure joy in mind. Go bold with your palette, have fun with your technique, and let your canvas burst with expressive color!

There really weren’t any challenges !
Do you have a favorite part or element in this artwork?
Loving the way the colors I had chosen interacted to create such beautiful & vibrant patterns.
Are there any specific tools or materials that you found particularly helpful in this project?
The types of paint blended especially the custom blends are what made the colors so beautiful & vibrant !
Do you have any tips to share with the readers?
As with all Fluid Art but especially when pouring over Glass, it’s very important to know how to layer your paints and to know which brands interact best with each other.

About the Project
What inspired the techniques used in your piece?
I wanted defined ribbons using the entire spectrum of colors to make this joyful bird come to life!
What challenges did you have completing this piece?
A previous attempt at pouring this bird, the bird actually fell off its pedestal and refused to reattach! At that moment I punted – because that’s what fluid artists do. So for this one, I doubled up the sticky tack so that wouldn’t happen again. Live and learn, right?
Do you have a favorite part or element in this artwork?
I love the way the warm color ribbons pop against the cool color ribbons, and vice versa
Are there any specific tools or materials that you found particularly helpful in this project?
Sticky tack – lots of sticky tack! Plus my small palette knife and dauber
Do you have any tips to share with the readers?
I love these challenges! They get me thinking outside my self-imposed box and really get the creative juices going!

About the Project
What inspired the techniques used in your piece?
The theme of this collaboration inspired me. I loved the colors, I felt happy and light.
What challenges did you have completing this piece?
I liked the colors that I used too much. I used too much blue and green and I feel like I should have done a better job in planning the placement when I layered the colors on the canvas.
Do you have a favorite part or element in this artwork?
My favorite part was watching the cells and lacing grow and develop.
Are there any specific tools or materials that you found particularly helpful in this project?
The balloon gave this piece a much needed detail, I loved using it and I loved the final design.
Do you have any tips to share with the readers?
Have fun with the process! If it doesn’t work out, keep going and alter if needed.
