Can you tell us a bit about your background as an artist? How did you first get started with paint pouring?

My art background is more of from the body art industry. And mental health issues. In 2016, I had facial reconstruction surgery and later came the seizures. I was at a very low part in my life… disconnected from the world when I found fluid art.

Thanks to gee pours course I took… I found the information and dived in the abstract world and I love the community, the visions, honesty, Freedom and the friendships I’ve made in my process . I’m enjoying every bit of this “semi controlled chaos” that is fluid art!!

What draws you to the medium of paint pouring? What do you enjoy most about it?

I’m drawn to the fact that you can only control so much of this medium!! And the paint has a life of its own .. “semi controlled chaos”

Describe your creative process when approaching a new paint pouring project. Do you plan your compositions in advance, or do you prefer to let the process guide you?

It depends on the feel of the piece at hand! Sometimes I have a idea of my vision and sometimes it has its own way of expression….

Do you frequently use specific techniques or methods in your paint pouring work? Could you walk us through one of your favorite techniques?

One of my favorite techniques to develop is the comb out. I like the experience of watching the paints transform into something very unique to the process..

What inspires your artistic style and choice of colors? Do any particular themes or motifs recur in your work?

I use music a lot in my style it shifts my mood as the music changes at times I never truly know what I’m going to feel in each piece until it’s over!! I use different inspiration for color combinations to use to express the moment..

Can you share a memorable experience or a significant breakthrough moment you’ve had in your paint pouring journey?

My first blow out that actually came out as I planned was great . Amsterdam as a cell activator has been extremely fun to experiment with… the growth of myself thanks to time and dedication to the art and the talented artists I’ve met along my way!!

How do you overcome creative blocks or challenges when working on a project?

I have ran into blocks in different ways at times I lose focus and feel like a failure . I get tired of doing things that I notice look similar to other pieces in my collection . I have color blocks where I get into the same variations of colors .. but I push myself through to enjoy the good ebb and flow of this art..

Do you have any favorite tools or materials that you always keep in your paint pouring arsenal? What are they, and why do you love them?

I always keep old clothes to wipe my hands on and 2 oz plastic cups is a must!! I keep my combs and straw/ blow-dryer close ya never know when I might change ideas on the fly! I keep handy hospital bed pads to use under my work..

How do you know when a paint pouring piece is finished? What criteria do you use to evaluate your work?

It comes from inside I just feel when I’m finished with a piece. I’ve been known to do unorthodox process to get the look I want. I have did a pour and been unhappy after a few attempts but I’ll keep going until i feel it’s right!

Sometimes I leave the old pours in the canvas and do a fresh pour right on the old wet pour and leave parts of each !!

What advice would you give to aspiring paint pouring artists who are just starting out?

Don’t get to stuck on to many techniques at once lear learn from each piece you create good or bad ..

Don’t be afraid to try the approach you feel you get the best results with!! even if it’s unheard of or unorthodox and don’t believe that the only way to get where you want to be is with 1 route .. don’t be afraid to mess up in the efforts of becoming great!!

“Never take criticism from someone you wouldn’t take advice from”.. just get in the paints!!
